Hey there! I’m Ashley and my handsome helper is my hubby, Samuel.
I have always loved being crafty.
Sam is a salesman and he has always wanted to run his own business.
In 2018, I was hurt at work. Being young and dumb I had no clue what I needed to actually do with worker’s comp. It turned bad fast. It didn’t help that HR was all over the place and told me 509 different things to do. Long story short…. 3 surgeries, 12 injections, MRIs, countless x-rays, testing, therapy and more and almost 5 years later…. I’m still not fixed.
Kanawha County Schools ended up "medically terminating" me. I had multiple different positions lined up where I would never be alone in lifting more than 50 pounds, but because the job description said I had to do it alone… I was not allowed to even be a parent aide anymore.
This was a huge financial burden for my family. Not only was I only given $4,000 for a $22,000 round of surgery (before meds, therapy or any of the after stuff), but on top of that myself and my 3 kids lost our insurance AND I lost ALL of my income. I was dabbling in direct sales and selling dry nail polish, but it still wasn’t enough. I had to do something.
I was doing crafty stuff on the side - but previously it was all crochet. Due to my injury, I couldn’t really do much of that anymore. 😞
February of this year, we decided to go for it, and Glittered Skull, LLC was born!
I still can’t do all the things. Sam, and my son, Ryan help me with all the things I can’t do alone! I’m so grateful for them!
I’ve mentioned in my group a lot that every two cups or tees we sell, feed my family with one meal... And honestly that is 100% truth. Right now I make enough to keep food on the table MOST of the time. And I’m more than appreciative for every single order!
Thanks for being on this journey with us and thanks for appreciating our weird!
Everything about our journey is simply unbelievable. Lots of people know bits and pieces but we have been working on bringing our story to light to help others that want to give up.
